Absolutely loved everything about El Monte Bajo & was the perfect villa to celebrate my 60th Birthday with our family. The garden is stunning, as are the furnishings crockery & decor of every room, it’s certainly very home from home & has a great atmosphere.
Danny is really responsive with any queries you may have.
Thank you once more 🥰

We have stayed in many villas in Spain, Greece and France and El Monte Bajo is definitely the best by far.
A fantastic property in a perfect setting with beautiful views from the garden & pool area which is very private.
Beautifully decorated and furnished, inside & out & spotlessly clean, it is a very special place.
Great communication when booking with the owner, Danny, & we arrived to a freshly prepared salad and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge. The housekeeping, garden & pool team do a brilliant job.
We didn’t explore the area as much as we usually would because we were so comfortable in the villa.
Thank you, a perfecto holiday!

Just back from a blissful week in El Monte Bajo. Quite the nicest villa we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few in this area). Just the two of us but it would be equally suitable for a larger group of friends/family as the accommodation is spacious and all rooms are ensuite. We had a quick peep in at Al Ladino and La Luna Miel and all are furnished to the same standard which I would describe as relaxed luxury – lots of nice local artifacts and quality finishes and fabrics. The kitchen and utility in El Monte Bajo is particularly well equipped for a holiday rental. Everything everywhere very clean!
Beautifully kept garden and pool area and I just loved the little pools with fountains, lily pads and frogs (or toads?) hopping in and out.
We only left the property to stock up at the supermarket and try a couple of local restaurants. Hotel Avalon – a short walk down the hill and a calorie busting hike back up – was very good.
Thanks Danny and your wonderful team for a fabulous holiday!

Much gratitude to you Anne for your generous comments. I'm pleased you were also able to see the optional 4th bedroom, "Luna de Miel' https://elmontebajo.com/video/luna-de-miel and the neighbouring property, the rustic cottage, Al Ladino. https://alladino.com. Now you know the two properties together can, if required accommodate 12 people (6 bedrooms all ensuite).

My partner and I spent 3 weeks in El Monte Bajo in January and we loved everything about it. The Villa is spacious; comfortable; very well equipped and with rustic but luxurious charm. Breakfasts were almost always eaten on the verandah to enjoy the wonderful views (more of which later). The kitchen area with its huge island was so warm and welcoming that we always dined there in the evening, although there is an attractive separate dining area. After dinner the very large and elegant lounge beckoned with its deep and comfortable cushions, views to the mountains and garden. The large corner tv has a good range of English speaking channels to choose from. The bedrooms are all tastefully furnished. We slept in the master bedroom which had views looking out towards the mountains and the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. The ensuite bathroom was spacious with a splendid soft water shower that made you want to linger.
Even though it was January we benefited from good temperatures and plenty of sunshine during the daytime but the evenings could sometimes be a little chilly. This was not a problem though, because the Villa has plenty of wall mounted and portable heaters which work extremely well and also the best wood burning stove that we have ever encountered.
Outside the large verandah looks onto the most beautiful, extensive garden with lawned area, pool and cabana, several different seating areas, pretty flower beds, colourful climbing plants, tall palm trees and ponds with fountains, little fish and lots of frogs. From a distance we would sometimes see a few frogs basking in the sunshine but whenever we approached they would jump remarkably swiftly into the water and burrow into the mud on the bottom of the pond. You would be lucky to catch sight of the frogs but would often hear a series of “plopping” sounds and see ripples on the water. One day I counted 14 such “plopping” noises!!
In addition to the glory of the garden during the day … there was more to come! At night the garden is beautifully lit by many coloured lights which come on automatically and transform it into a magical place which we never tired of looking at. Even inside the house the many large windows allow you to continue to enjoy the wonderful illumination. It’s like visiting Edinburgh botanic gardens at Christmas time – just exquisite!
From booking El Monte Bajo and throughout our stay there Danny, the owner, could not have been more helpful with information and advice when needed. He also has an excellent team of people who helped to make our stay a special time. Ana had prepared a salad and provided us with other goodies which were much appreciated and saved us the trouble of having to go shopping or find somewhere to eat immediately following our arrival. Also on her weekly visits to clean Ana was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. Jose also was exceptionally helpful and very attentive to making sure that everything in the property was in good working order. He was also kind enough to help us with a delivery issue that had nothing to do with the Villa and went out of his way to help us try to resolve it. The gardeners Alejandro and Antonio were friendly and unobtrusive and did a wonderful job keeping the garden looking at it’s best.
We really cannot fault this Villa and plan to return to it, maybe next year. We highly recommend it. The only thing to note if you stay here is that the reason you get such wonderful views of the mountains, Nerja and the sea is because the villa is on top of a hill that climbs quite steeply so we would recommend you have a car or, if you do not drive, be prepared to use taxis.
Thank you Danny, Ana, Jose, Alejandro and Antonio for everything. We look forward to returning soon.

Our family of 5 (including 3 teens) just spent an unforgettable week at El Monte Bajo- so perfect in its unpretentious, rustic charm and impeccable quality. Our kids approve of the strong wifi, indoor/ outdoor music streaming systems and effective air con especially! There are so many unique and interesting features to the decor (inside and out). We were captivated by the views of the mountains and the sea; at night-time the tranquil garden transforms into a multi-coloured jewel. There are ample seating areas, a wonderful pool complete with a well-equipped cabana. All of these complimented by a cute outdoor visitor (a black cat 🐈⬛), a helpful and personable owner (Danny), always ready to answer our questions, and a wonderful, dedicated and friendly team of locals who take care of the place. We feel totally spoiled and completely refreshed, hoping to return soon!

Wow, what can I say? I made the mistake of looking at the other reviews and realising they have stolen some of my best thoughts on El Monte Bajo, specifically on the garden being heavenly or ‘garden of Eden’ like !!
New Year 2022, I receive one of Danny’s tempting emails regarding El Monte Bajo, I think I’ve been on the mailing list for over 5 years. Oftentimes dates we may have wanted were booked up but there it was, a date that matched 18 June 2022, so within a few days family on board and very excited we booked for a two week break. After the experience of covid, for six months from then it was just the balm to the soul looking forward to it. I often watched the video to remind myself over the winter what we had to look forward to, could it be as perfect as it looked?
The answer is yes, yes, yes. Breathtaking is what I’d describe our feelings on opening the gate … and nothing disappointed. The comfort and style of the house made for a very relaxing time, beautiful without feeling you have to tiptoe around it. There were five of us the first week and six the following with no shortage of stunning places with beautiful views to have time by yourself.
Everything was spotless and so well maintained by the friendly Jose and Ana. We had much fun with our Google translate conversations!! We especially loved our black cat visitor , as we have one very similar at home. Danny was so responsive to any queries we had, when the iron ‘blew’ a new one was provided straight away. The restaurant suggestions were spot on and we tried quite a few, specifically those family run ones on the beach on the way to Torrox and none disappointed.
Talking about it now …. I have a pang for it and am envious of those lucky enough to be there.
We would all like to return again and no doubt when I need to imagine a ‘happy place’ then I’d have no hesitation in saying this would be it.

I stayed at El Monte Bajo in Feb-March for a week; partly on my own and partly with my husband. I'm not easily impressed (I tend to be a little on the "seen it all, done it all" side I'm afraid) but I must say, no words I write would ever do justice on how wonderful El Monte Bajo is. Everything you see on this website is of course true and real – but I promise, once you actually get there, you'll think "oh, this looks even better than in the pictures"! And just to be clear – yes it was quite large a house for a party of 1 to 2 people! I felt like royalty to be honest 🙂
This house is not only full of rustic countryside charm, but it is also impeccably clean, and every detail you could imagine is of highest quality. There is 100% comfort in every aspect: convenient parking, perfectly equipped kitchen, highest quality bedding, plentiful bathrooms, air con to keep the temperature just right. And oh, air play connected loudspeakers even by the pool. And absolutely beautiful ad tasteful design in everything.
Danny, the owner, is most reliable and genuinely interested in your wellbeing and comfort. He clearly loves this property and succeeds in keeping it absolutely tip top with his wonderful onsite team. Danny also makes sure that you find the property without issues, and also makes sure you know how to operate things in the house.
Did I mention the fantastic view, the spacious pool, the frog pond and the cat? I think you just have to go and see for yourself 🙂

We'd watched the video, we had the excitement bubbling inside, we'd wound our way up the hill, past the pretty flower beds and painted white villas until they 'd all vanished and we sat in our car on a dusty track outside a rustic wall with the locked entrance gate to El Monte Baco beckoning. At that moment, our expectations were mixed… We left the luggage and approached the gate, entered the code we had been given and held our breath. We were going to be here for a month, it had to be nice.
The gate swung open, someone gasped, I know for me there was silence as the smile took over my whole face. We had just arrived in our own garden of Eden and the view was breathtaking and totally unexpected.
During our month in our own paradise, the wonder did not dissipate. We sat on every bench /chair / at all dining tables and enjoyed the ambiance of each, carefully positioned to show a different view, to create a different ambiance.
The villa and garden had so many beautiful little touches and quirky relics and we spent time trying to work out what some items would have been used for in the past. Infact, it was my birthday during the holiday and the family secretly arranged a treasure hunt to find my gift. There were so many things to search for and discover, it actually made us take more note of and appreciate the thought that had gone into creating this magnificent villa.
Danny, the owner was very attentive and keen to ensure that everything was perfect for us. He did not fail. Suggestions for places to visit, restaurants to try were much appreciated. Jose, came twice a week to tend the property and look after the pool. We had fun practising our very bad Spanish, but he was very charming and patient and we often reverted to sign language! Ana fronted housekeeping, but is also an exceptional cook and kindly made us tortillas and gazpacho and supplied fresh figs for us on her weekly visits. She has also left a lovely welcome basket so that we had time to absorb and enjoy the start to our holiday without rushing off to the supermarket. It was just another thoughtful touch .
As we were staying longer than most of guests, we were asked us to give feedback on our stay, with a view to making improvements. But to be honest, I am not sure that you could improve on perfection. El Monte Bajo exceeded everything the video had promised and the team helped us created some very happy memories, celebrating 2 birthdays, the company of family and friends, something so very much needed after the lock downs and isolation of 2020 /2021.
We would highly recommend you go and discover all the secrets of this villa for yourselves. We hope to be lucky enough to visit El Monte Bajo again soon.

We have just completed our 4th visit to these wonderful properties but just had our first to Al Ladino. All three previous occasions we stayed in El Monte Bajo, so we are in a great position to be able to compare the two. We are not usually in the habit of coming back to the same place for a holiday over and over again. However, Nerja has held a special place in our heart over the years after holidaying here a couple of times when our children were young. We chanced across Danny’s villa when planning a return holiday 2/3 years ago, now the children have grown and flown the nest. The stunning location, charm and standard of the properties have brought us back several times since. We see ourselves coming back again and again as we love it here and can see that as our family grows again, with grandchildren etc, we will have many options on how to enjoy this flexible quality accommodation. If you are considering booking then don’t hesitate, you can’t fail to love it and Danny is a friendly, efficient & helpful host. It would be easy to think that maybe you get something less by staying at Al Ladino rather than El Monte Bajo but that isn’t the case. Both villas are of exceptional quality. The only thing that’s different is size. Al Ladino is a charming two bedroom property. Arguably it has the best master bedroom suite of the two properties but the master suites in both properties benefit from double his and hers sinks, large walk-in showers and a bath! The only real difference is that Al Ladino has two bedrooms vs El Monte Bajo’s 4, a smaller pool and a smaller garden. It’s more laid to patio than the large grassed area in the property next door but does have really good outdoor space including a large brick BBQ. El Monte Bajo has stunning gardens with more space and greenery. I think Al Ladino has marginally better views of the mountains and coastline due to the hedge height being just that little bit lower but they are both amazing. If you are 4 people or less, then Al Ladino is perfect. El Monte Bajo with the recently added bedroom (although we haven’t seen it yet) is superb for larger groups and El Monte Bajo has a fabulous well equipped kitchen and more internal living space. If you’re more than 8 then you could easily combine both properties and have 6 double bedrooms only separated by garden gates but cleverly designed for privacy and quiet, if you are only using one of the properties. All bedrooms are en-suite and each one is roomy and delightful so no-one has to take the compromise room, which can often happen when large family groups or friends are holidaying together. I’d say if you’re wondering whether to book either property do it! I can’t imagine for one minute anyone being disappointed. You need a hire car or be prepared to use taxis for transport, which are easy to find and it’s only 10 minutes into town, it is on top of a very steep hill, hence the amazing views.

Muchas Gracias Danny!

When you open the entrance door of the walled house you enter a completely different world. A little paradise for us! An incredible garden and a house you can only dream of. It is a pleasure from morning to evening. We even dare to say that you have to search a long time throughout Andalusia to match El Monte Bajo. It's a TOPPER! All the details approach perfection, from the house, the garden to the pool… too many to mention, even the toilet paper is branded.
Danny will help you with all the tips before arriving and during your stay so that everything runs smoothly.
We definitely want to go back because you will not find this house with this service anywhere else. Muchas Gracias Danny!

We had the most wonderful time in the most wonderful Villa. It was remarkable the way the view of the garden, and the view in general, when you opened the front door would take your breath away each and every time. It is nothing short of an oasis in the incredibly hot and dry weather at this time of the year.
Another remarkable aspect is the attention to detail all round the Villa. It was very apparent that a lot of thought had gone into the way the furniture, fixtures and fittings and facilities would be set up all round the Villa, in exquisite detail, to maximise comfort and convenience.
The way the Villa is furnished and decorated in it's rustic style is absolutely magnificent and gives it such a homely feel. You do, indeed, feel very much at home and fully relaxed. The beds were so comfortable, the en-suite bathrooms were immaculately and beautifully designed and provided, the Living room was large and splendid, and the kitchen…well, no matter how great the Villa was all round, I'd like to single it out for particular praise; it is such a huge and beautiful kitchen and such a multi-purpose island in the middle that I spent a lot of time there carrying out work on my laptop first thing in the morning and not just preparing breakfast, lunch, etc.
Danny and I were in regular contact, he was so keen that we enjoy our stay at the Villa. His restaurant recommendations / suggestions were very welcome and pretty much spot on, his instructions to get to the Villa were perfect, and his fact sheet / information sheet on how to operate the various devices around the Villa were ideal.
We have shared photos and videos of the Villa with friends and family who have been wowed by it, and I would most definitely recommend 'El Monte Bajo', and would recommend it very highly indeed.

What a magical place! We had a family holiday with 6 adults and a baby. The house is stunningly beautiful, very spacious and exquisitely designed to fine detail . There are amazing views of the dramatic mountains and the sea from the house and gardens. The garden are thoughtfully designed and well maintained, with some welcome shaded areas ,BBQ, ponds and a large swimming pool. Pots of fresh herbs provide lovely scents as you walk through the garden – and great for cooking. The huge kitchen is the heart of the home with a large window providing stunning views as you enjoy the pleasure of cooking with every utensil you could ever need, large fridge and freezer- and plenty of room for everyone to to join in. The large outdoor eating area on the veranda has a lovely cool gentle breeze from the mountains and fabulous at night with Jupiter, amongst thousands of other stars, twinkling down on us accompanied by frog chorus. Everything was spotlessly clean, well maintained, lots of space and privacy, great welcome pack and Danny was very helpful with lots of tips before we arrived and checked in by text to make sure everything was ok. Breathtakingly stylish, comfortable and magical

We spent a family holiday week in El Monte Bajo (and the neigbouring Al Ladino) and were bowled over by the quality of the accommodation, the extensive garden and large private pool. Al Ladino has been reviewed on its own website wwww.alladino.com/reviews The impressive maintenance and cleaning services, regular communication from Danny before and during our holiday and attention to detail is phenomenal. El Monte Bajo is a breathtaking property. The villa is spacious and yet intimate, the garden is spectacular with nooks and crannies and different areas for relaxing. The pool is huge and there are 2 ponds with the noisiest frogs imaginable! There were 8 of us and it was easy to lose each other in the villa and garden, although our favourite times were when we got together to eat & drink on the verandah. It is very difficult to put El Monte's character into words … the photos and videos give only part of the picture.
We would definitely love to return one day and we're confident that it will remain as peaceful, practical and awesome as it is today.

I know that I follow in the footsteps of many of my fellow reviewers but both El Monte Bajo and Al Ladino are perfect. We've been staying in and around Nerja for about the past ten years and as a consequence have a broad range of experience of rental properties – both El Monte Bajo and Al Ladino are exceptional. There are many, many things I love about both properties – really thoughtful layout, spotlessly clean, quality furniture and appliances. Both properties are very spacious, so that we never felt that we were tripping over each other when preparing food etc.
One "must do" is to enlist Danny's help to arrange a late, lazy lunch prepared by a private chef – you won't regret it!
Danny is a super host – easily contactable and responsive for any questions both before and during your stay.
We certainly hope to be back again next year!

Tracy, many thanks to you. I want to mention the team who provide the real spanish flavour, they are Jose Antonio, Ana, Marie Angeles, Sandra, Gustavo, Sebastian & Jose Miguel and others who all respond 'tan rapido' if there are issues so that guests can have a carefree staff & I can sleep soundly knowing everything is taken care of.

We have just returned from a family holiday in El Monte Bajo. What can I say ?? It’s all been said before. The villa and garden are magical. The villa is furnished beautifully & is enhanced by the lighting at night. The garden is wonderful with plenty of seats in both sun & shade. The views of the sea & mountains are breathtaking. At night the lighting turns it into an enchanted garden. As others have said it is so peaceful & relaxing we spent a lot of time at the villa- far more than at previous rentals & we wanted to get back every afternoon. Ana left us a lovely welcome basket & Danny was in touch by email to ask if there were any problems ( there weren’t).
My sister-in-law wanted to adopt the stray cats & we were entertained by looking for the frogs in the pools & the noise they made.
The villa is spotlessly clean & the gardens well cared for. The team are obviously proud of the villa & gardens.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Andalucia, including a week at El Monte Bajo. Beautiful house in beautiful gardens and amazing attention to detail. Can't fault anything!

We have returned from our first visit to El Monte Bajo but not Nerja. We absolutely loved the villa and the garden and we had the bonus of sunny weather. The views, the attention to detail, the welcome pack – it’s all been said in other reviews. Thanks to Danny and his team for making this so memorable. Nothing was too much trouble.

We stayed in El Monte Bajo for two wonderful weeks in October. Our children and grandchildren came out to join us for the second week and we took over the neighbouring cottage, Al Ladino as well. What an experience. We could fault nothing! To have all the family together was great, but to have them all here was fantastic. Every detail of the place was appreciated….we have never had a welcome basket
like it, the views, the garden that was likened to Eden, the pool, the plants, the peace, everything! We loved it as you can tell and we will go back.

We stayed in El Monte Bajo 1-8th September and what a treasure it is!
It's hard to say anything about this beautiful villa, pool and garden, that hasn't already been said.
Three generations of family stayed and enjoyed all it's comforts including a fabulous birthday/anniversary meal cooked for us by two local Spanish ladies, Nelli and Anna.
We know the area around Nerja, which is fortunate, as we too found it hard to leave the villa!
If you want comfort, peace and tranquillity, stunning views and you just want to slow life down, El Monte Bajo is the place for you!
Many thanks to Danny, who could not have been more helpful and to his team for making our week what we hoped it would be.

Another great family holiday
“This is an idyll”
Reviewed by: Anonymous | 5 of 5 El Monte Bayo is just the most lovely place to stay for an entirely relaxing holiday. If what you’re after is a beautiful, carefully furnished and stocked house, full of thought and charm; a stunning location atop the hills overlooking Nerja and the sea; huge tropical gardens with plenty of sun and shade seating and lovely flowers; a delightful pool (‘doesn’t hurt to get out’ was our teens’ comment, and true it was), then look no further. It’s not a walk to the beach – you need to drive 5-10 mins – but for this you get the view, the quiet and the feeling of, literally, being away from it all. Danny was fantastically helpful both before and during our stay and all ran entirely smoothly. Do take up the offer of the chef coming to cook for at least one evening – paella cooked for you without having to move was divine and delicious. The house is so lovely and so full of thoughtful and pretty touches, that you’ll never want to leave it. Leaving was the only bad bit in fact. Reviewed by: Stephen B. | 5 of 5 We are now back home in a very grey and miserable North of England – what a contrast! Lindy and I and all our “visitors” were absolutely stunned by El Monte Bajo and it’s amazing location. Jose was an absolute delight as were all the team who help to keep the place so beautiful. Thanks, Danny, for your immediate and effective response to the problems caused by an enormous, but impressive storm, namely the loss of Wi-fi. We had a great drive back to the Channel Tunnel, complete with a car full of great memories, photos and Rioja! A terrific holiday in a terrific place. Reviewed by: Gill D. | 5 of 5 We’ve just returned home from a fabulous week at this villa. We were so impressed with both the house and the garden that we found we spent most of our time there rather than venturing out as it was so relaxing. Our daughter loved the pool and spent most of her day in there. Even I, a self confessed pool phobic, found myself in there as it was so lovely to swim in!! Each day we seemed to spot something new and we have to say that the layout, features and attention to detail are second to none. We wished we’d booked for 2 weeks! We hope to return for another holiday! Review Submitted: Aug 23, 2015 | Date of Stay: Aug 2015“Blissful family fortnight in a tropical paradise”

After a long, tiring journey, we opened the gate of El Monte Bajo and immediately stepped into paradise! We have stayed in many excellent Spanish villas over the years but El Monte Bajo stands head and shoulders above the rest. It is a truly beautiful and stylish property located in a stunning tropical garden. The house has a wonderfully authentic feel with each room tastefully furnished. There is normally competition to get the ‘best’ bedroom when our family arrives but this is not an issue at El Monte as all three bedrooms are furnished to a very high standard with equally high quality en suite bathrooms. Danny, the owner, has painstakingly chosen furniture, fittings and artifacts to work in sympathy with the building. Wherever you look, there is something to delight the eye. The garden is amazing with such a wide variety of flowers, fruits and mature palm trees. To maintain such a fabulous green lawn is a real labour of love. As wildlife enthusiasts, we were delighted to observe a variety of birds (including hoopoe), frogs and red squirrels. The gardens feature a choice of seating and an excellent barbecue. The pool is truly wonderful and helped make this holiday very special. There are gorgeous views over the local mountains and down to the sea. The lighting in the garden is magical and with the frogs in true song makes the evenings something special.
Nerja has a very good range of restaurants and there are excellent local beaches including the outstanding Playa El Canuelo. We had enjoyable times at a few of them but were at our happiest back at the villa. Danny’s instructions and directions prior to the holiday were really helpful. We appreciated the photographs that made everything clear. Danny was easy to contact during the holiday and went out of his way to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The website and videos are excellent and provide an accurate picture of El Monte. El Monte is at the top of a hill so it is advisable to have a car. The local taxis are cheap and reliable although not all drivers know how to find the villa. We befriended two of the taxi drivers early in the holiday and used them after that.
We really appreciated the vegetables from the garden provided by the gardener.
Although family holidays can be subject to the odd ‘tension’, I can honestly say that this was one of the happiest family holidays we have enjoyed. We were genuinely sorry to be leaving and hope to return one day.

“A stunning villa with breath-taking views!”
Reviewed by: Anonymous | 5 of 5
What can I say? Other than this village is an absolute gem!!
Tucked away in the hills of Nerja with views to die for! It really is a very special place to holiday.
Myself, my husband and two other couples stayed in this villa for a week at the end of June and had a very enjoyable stay!
Gardens and pool: The gardens and pool are probably the most brilliant thing about this property. The pool is a good size and there are plenty of places to relax and eat dinner as a family/group. The view over Nerja is stunning and made all the more beautiful when the sun goes down and the garden lights up!
Accomodation: I was lucky enough to stay in the master bedroom, and although all 3 rooms really are lovely, the master is slightly bigger and has a bigger bathroom, the views from the bath are quite exceptional! The living room is big and cozey and offered some occassional respite from the beating sun!
Location: A car is ideal as it is a way up a very steep hill but what we would do in the evenings (because no one wanted to be designated driver) was to walk down to El Avalon Hotel/Restaurant (about 12 mins downhill) and order a taxi from the restaurant, I also recommend eating there. The food was great and the staff were very friendly!
All in all we had an absolutely wonderful time and would definitely recommend the villa! Danny the owner is also very helpful and friendly which is a bonus! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Guest feedback from
“as good as the pics on the website are they still don’t do the property justice’ we appreciate the fact you and Oscar are just a call or text away if we need anything. it’s been a fantastic week here in beautiful surroundings, and not forgetting the fabulous food Toni prepared for us !!”

“Just returned from another idyllic week here. Peace calm and tranquillity in a sheltered garden which has its own little micro-climate. Avocados, strawberries, custard apples and bananas all grow along with lemons oranges apricots figs and lots of salad and vegetables, all organically grown. The wildlife is constantly amazing with frogs toads Hawks squirrels stray pussycats with this time, a baby hedgehog sheltering in the cats bowl too! Words are insufficient to explain our delight at staying here again. We just know we are really lucky to have found it! Plus really caring owners. Delightful!”

“A magnificent villa full of charm with an exceptional garden and excellent views. Set 3/4 of a mile up a hill, it is an ideal for a ‘get away from it all’ holiday yet easily close enough to the heart of Nerja (2 miles approx) and its beaches, if a more lively experience is required.”
Alex – Gloucester, United Kingdom June 2016
“Beyond the unassuming metal door set into a stone wall lies the enchanting finca that is El Monte Bajo. From the top of the steps that lead down to the covered terrace the view of the tropical garden, Nerja nestling in the valley, the sea and the Almijara mountain range is absolutely stunning. Once inside and from every viewpoint the property oozes rustic charm and character. This is an idyllic retreat that has been created with great care and affection, combining authentic Andalucian materials with ultra modern facilities. All in all this is a very special place. We look forward to returning.”
