On crisp winter days, the skies are often clear and blue, and the sun still strong enough to enjoy time outdoors. A haven of peace
I have stayed in many holiday homes over the past forty years and this is the best one yet.
My family and I (five adults) spent Christmas and New Year in this very special place. It is located on a hillside with spectacular views of the sea, mountains, Nerja and Frigiliana. Both the house and garden are very peaceful and made us all feel very relaxed. We spent most days in the beautiful garden, soaking up the warm winter sunshine. Cooler evenings were spent in the stunning house with the roasting log fire. We admired the design of the house and all the furnishings which are a mix of rustic and modern styles making it luxurious, warm and comfortable. The magnificent kitchen was very well equipped and in the bathrooms there was plenty hot water and powerful showers. Danny, the owner was super helpful with information before and during our stay.

A perfect stay
When we arrived at El Monte Bajo it felt like we had entered a fairytale: a beautiful large garden with great views over Nerja, Frigiliana and the Mediterranean. The house is a typical Spanish cortijo. Very cozy and surprising with different inner gardens. Everything is well maintained, fully equipped and clean. Danny is a great host. He does everything he can to make you feel at home. Also his team of gardeners and housekeeping is extremely nice and helpful.
We would definitely recommend El Monte Bajo and would love to come back next year.

An amazing week at El Monte Bajo
Everything was perfectly orchestrated from the instruction as to how to get there to the attention to detail as to how to ‘work’ the villa.
The space was perfect for 4 adults to enjoy cooking , socialising , and generally having a brilliant ‘hang out ‘ space.
The house retains enormous character and has been sympathetically restored whilst having all the mod cons like good WiFi and a sound system that we easily were able to cast to.
The location was perfect for us to explore Frigiliana, The Caves at Nerja , Nerja town and some very secluded beaches and hikes.
The pool was available and we chose to have some cold swims – but I believe you can request for it to be heated at an extra cost. Beautiful and peaceful views and of the mountains and the sea – gorgeous sunrises !
All that is left is for us to return!
